We are a diverse group of people that want to share our appreciation for, and love of mantra meditation with you!
We are students of Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda, who has been teaching the science of yoga meditation for over fifty years. As his students, we want to share with others the life-changing practices and knowledge that he has so kindly shared with us.
We are a non-profit group and we don't charge for any of our events; donations are much appreciated and help cover the cost of hall-hires, etc. Everyone is welcome to come and practice mantra meditation with us.
We hope to see you soon at one of our events!
Love & peace,
The Guildford Mantra Meditation Crew
Mantra meditation is a form of meditation that utilizes mantras to take one's mind off of the material and focus it on the spiritual.
Mantras are transcendental sound vibrations, originating in the spiritual dimension, that have been passed down orally for thousands of years; since time immemorial. They have been passed through bona fide disciplic succession from teacher to student, with genuine love and care, and have made their way now to the present day.
Mantra meditation utilizes mantras (transcendental sound) to take one's mind off of the material and focus it on the spiritual.
Mantras are not invented or made-up, and they cannot be artificially replicated. Because they are spiritual sound, they have the power to affect our hearts and minds in ways that ordinary material sound vibration cannot. This makes mantra meditation the most powerful and beneficial form of meditation there is.
Anyone seeking to find inner peace, happiness, purpose, or to reawaken their dormant spiritual understanding, can benefit from this practice.
It's all-inclusive, non-exclusionary, and perfect for anyone and everyone.

We practice three main techniques of mantra meditation, listed below. There are obviously many other uses for mantras, and other forms of meditation, but these three are some of the easiest, most practical, and most fun techniques to apply in your life!
This is a group practice, done with as many of your friends and fellow practitioners as possible! It involves the singing or chanting of mantras in a call-and-response format, and there are no hard-and-fast rules about it! You can sing softly, loudly, play different styles of music to accompany the mantras, and have a great time with it.
It is specially suited to this modern day where it's often hard to find a peaceful or quiet place to do mellower forms of meditation that require more concentration. With kirtan, it's almost impossible NOT to get totally absorbed in the mantras!
Japa meditation is practiced on beads known as japa-mala. They come in lengths of 54 or 108 beads, and one simply repeats a single mantra, most often the maha-mantra, once per bead until you've done a full round on the beads. You can do as many rounds as you like!
Again, it utilises the purifying and calming potency of mantras to focus your mind. The best part is you can do this anywhere! On the train to work, sitting on your couch at home, before you go to sleep at night; or our personal favourite - on a walk in nature.
Gauranga breathing (as you may have guessed) uses the mantra "Gauranga" in conjunction with controlling your breathing to calm and recentre the mind, providing a very refreshing and relaxing experience.
To engage in this practice you sit in an upright, comfortable position and slow your breath to a pace that is comfortable for you, controlling your inhalation and exhalation. As you inhale, say the mantra mentally in your mind, and as you exhale, say the mantra "Gauranga" out loud by splitting it into four longer syllables: Gau-Ra-Ang-Ga
This is a great one to do when you are feeling stressed, but you're short on time and need a quick mantra session to refresh and re-centre!
